Welcome to the “Fishing Road”

The Executive Director and staff of tourism development projects of the Route of Fisheries request you to accept their best wishes for happiness and prosperity during the new year!

The Fishing Road Tourism Development Project (PDTRP) is a zoning and regional development operation contained in the Beninese government’s large tasks program to fight against poverty. It’s based on the main national development agenda.
(i) Benin 2006-2011 Strategic Development Orientation Program (1st strategic axis for the rehabilitation and the valorization of an attractive tourist site).
(ii) Growth Strategy for Poverty Reduction (Part 4 of the 1st axis : increased growth for tourism, craftsmen and cultural sectors)
(iii) Long term perspective studies, Benin 2025 (iv) National tourism policy. The PDT-RP is also interesting because of the millennium target realisation for the development (OMD) and the NEPAD.
The Fishing Road Project will to increase the contribution of tourism to the GDP from now to 2015 by changing tourism into Benin’s premier economic sector. In reality, it’s going to build a “quality tourist city” in a natural and cultural environment developed close to the best West African beaches in order to:
- Create good conditions and opportunities for local and international private investors who want to promote tourism and help Benin’s economic development.
- Create a competitive and performing capacity (about 3000 tourists) for various targets.
- Diversify and revitalise the littoral economy by bringing many tourist activities.
- Diversify the national economy by changing the tourism into a modern sector
- Develop natural and cultural wealth
Our sites are: Djègbadji, Avlékété, Togbin/ Adounko and Fidjrossè beach.
